  23. NOTE: The countdown for mission STS-59 is currently holding at
  24. T-27 hours as a result of yesterday's decision by mission
  25. management to make additional inspections on Endeavour's three
  26. main engines. The decision to perform the borescope inspections
  27. on the engines, specifically the high pressure oxidizer turbo
  28. pumps, was as a result of engineers at Canoga Park, Calif.,
  29. discovering smaller than permittable vanes, or stationary guides,
  30. in the preburner that directs the flow of the liquid oxygen
  31. through the pump. Managers will be meeting again today to discuss
  32. the results of the inspections.
  33.  
  34.      Because of this decision, the launch of Endeavour was moved
  35. from Thursday to Friday, April 8. The two-and-half-hour window
  36. opens at 8:06 a.m. (Remaining in the schedule is the option to
  37. launch Endeavour as much as an hour earlier at 7:06 a.m. This
  38. alternative will be implemented the day prior to launch day if
  39. mission managers judge the weather may not be acceptable at 8:06
  40. but could be acceptable earlier.)

  42.      The forecast indicates a 60 percent probability of weather
  43. prohibiting launch on Friday with the primary concerns being for
  44. low ceilings and winds exceeding runway crosswind limits. 
  45.
